Hello. My name is Bridgette (for those who didn't notice yet) and I'm a self taught yoga enthusiast from Wisconsin. I came to the practice while in high school on the advice of a therapist to counteract my severe anxiety. I enjoyed it very much and soon found strength in my fluid flexibility.
When I became pregnant, I intended on continuing however, due to the high risk of my pregnancy, I quit, as well as my vegetarian lifestyle. I later regretted this because it would be another 2 years till I returned. In that time I gained 125 lbs and was a virtual wreck not to mention caring for a special needs child took it's toll on my stress meter.
I came to the conclusion in order to teach my son to love himself, I needed to set an example. So I re-began my yoga journey. It was hard at first because I came back to the practice with stiff joints, bad knees, and a dislocated shoulder, but things ARE getting better! I've lost a TON of weight during my 6 month so far. More because I've stopped emotional eating and back to a far more natural vegetarian diet (and the investment in a treadmill!) .
I look foreword to getting to know you all and hope to be able to contribute constructively. Namaste

Hi,

Welcome and good for you. I enjoy your story because it is so positive, great that you have done that and I am sure you son will follow the excllent example. You know the spiritual impetus is carried by the mother and is transfered via the mother to her child, so your child may have special needs, but a good thing that he had you as a mother who imparted a hugh chunk of spiritual energy in him.

Enjoy the forum and look forward to hear from you.
