Welcome Cassyfaye!

What IS available in your area? Any community centers or anything like that? Beginning yoga without an instructor is fine, but having someone to correct your poses and to help you focus your breathing and balance is a real asset. There are lots of beginner level DVDs you could use. I would really recommend that you see if there is central registry for instructors in your area and call there. Sometimes they will be able to tell you about private classes and about community based programs.

Good luck and namaste.

Welcome to the board. Don't worry if there's not much in your area. I've been doing Yoga for 5-6 years now and have never attended a class. There are lots of Videos/DVD's out there along with programs on TV, just a matter of finding one that suits you and your needs. Along with books and information on the Net you can still have a nice, fulfilling practice. Doing is the best way to learn, your body will tell you when you're doing something right.

p.s I have nieces and nephews who also try to follow and copy me, its so cute
