forgive my immediate ignorance...i just joined the forum, and haven't had a chance to troll the posts for the information i'm about to ask for...but i'm just going to go ahead and ask a few questions =)

i'm totally new to yoga, and caring about my fitness in general...i've recently become addicted to daily workouts and i would like to add yoga to my fitness mantra.

what yoga information resource websites does this community recommend to beginners? what style of yoga would be best to get my feet wet?

if anyone would like to take a noobie under their wing, drop me a PM

tys

Welcome to the forum. Your avatar is beautiful; I am also a fan of Alex Grey.

It is out of respect for the world's teachers and of the teachings themselves that we are first to do our own searching and then to ask questions. Friend, I will share with you, we will wear down the sages and teachers in our world if we rely on them entirely and are unwilling to do even the most meager of investigation ourselves. That is searching our hearts, and using the search function on the this site, for just two examples. Please don't take offense to this. I offer it in friendship and in the knowing that asking excellent questions produces excellent answers.

Kind wishes in your search,

Well using internet resources for beginners is sketchy. The problem is that there's no foundation for discernment. If you are willing to learn incorrectly and then unlearn and relearn later on, the internet might be fine.

I personally don't use it but the Yoga Journal web site does offer a variety of resources. And for whatever it's worth they DO have an editorial staff and accountability which many yoga web sites do not. Again personally, I get suspicious of yoga sites where you cannot determine who is publishing or authoring the content.

Obviously if you are trying to get wet feet then Aqua Yoga would be the only choice.
If you are trying for some other thing(s) I recommend taking several different classes from several different teachers (at studios if possible) and spending some quiet time after each class to determine the result of that practice. After ten classes choose what is right for you and your intention(s).
