I also hope to learn a lot from this forum. I had taken raja/hatha yoga with an instructor for 6 years and now I do not, so I am trying to develop in my own time. Lately I've been teaching some family members yoga and am enjoying it quite a bit, so now I am thinking about teaching it to others.

Besides yoga, dogs, family, my other passion is running. I love running long distances and have raced several marathons. Some people think that yoga and running to be opposites, but not to me. There are many similarities (and of course some differences). As with running, I try to take a yogic approach to everything I do.

Welcome to the forum! I love hearing how people take their Yoga off the mat and into the world, and in your case, onto the road. I am glad that you don't miss this chance to do Yoga.

Hello Lucky13!!!
Welcome to the Yoga Forums. There are many treasures of knowledge to find that are shared from those who are here. I have much to learn myself and this is a warm atmosphere to do so.

Might I ask why your name is Lucky13? I am curious because that number yields a powerful influence on my life. I am guided by all things, including numbers. I am converged of 13 primal names, though I tend to only give 3. I imagine you have a good reason for having such a name. 13 is indeed considered to be a lucky number by some cultures. So, might I ask?

Well, first, I like to think that I am lucky! And my birthday is on the 13th of January. Also, my 13th year of life was an important one is seeing more of my real self. And then, my real name (given and family name) has 13 letters.

I also like to think about numbers or at least take notice of numbers and their meaning. I think it's great that my birthday is what many consider the most unlucky number.

13 is considered lucky by some cultures? I had no idea; which ones?

It was considered to be the luckiest of numbers according to the Mayan civilization. It has great meaning in the Mayan Tzolkin which is a calendar the measures a matrix of 13 x 20 energy patterns. The Mayans attributed a great deal of meaning to the numbers. Their Yearly calendar was based of 13 lunars cycles with evenly distributed 28 day lengths for 364 days. That the even units don't match the ellipses of the actual moon phases accorded to how the energies change in long term cycles. If you like 13, you will probably like what they have to say about it.

I think there are many other cultures, too, that saw 13 as a lucky number. I recall hearing the certain pagan cultures from the distant past celebrated events in accordance with the number 13. I can't remember the exact details though.
