Hi from delaware...
I'm brand new to yoga, not too familiar with all the words! I'm a muslim too so I don't the chanting. But i totally enjoy the moves and how good it is for your body. I feel so rejuvenated and relaxed. Today is the first day i could do the crane position. I was so excited when i got my knees up there and they stayed!!! I'm soo happy to be a part of this forum. Peace |

Welcome to the forums!
Can you please educate me why a muslim wouldn't chant? I'm not questioning you, I just want to understand and learn about your religion. Thanks! |

Oh and by the way did you ever hear that when a muslim prays they are doing "yoga" by some of the positions and what we say when in prayer.
I found this website about it if your interested : http://www.islamawareness.net/Salah/yoga.html |

I have no first hand knowledge of the muslim system. However I can tell you...
In some religious movements Dave there are specificities regarding false idols. Some perceive chanting - especially when they are not told exactly, positively, specifically, what they are saying and "to whom" - to be a venture a bit far down the path of false idol worship. For most of those who would assume such a position they are likely bombarded by the propaganda that yoga is of the hindu religion or that yoga "is" religion.
