Hi, my name is Dave and i'm new here, i followed Iyengar Yoga for about 5 months now, i like to share a story on how and why i'm now really2 passionate and devote my life to Yoga especialy Iyengar Yoga,

Six months ago, after suffering from lower back pain for 7 years and gradually all my spine become stiff and painful, i finaly have the answer from my dr, i was later told that i have a genetic health issues, called Ankylosing Spondylitis ( hope i spell it right ), these genetic problem causes inflamation to all my spinal joint thus make it really2 painful and eventually make my spine become stiff and the lubrication between the joint will eventually connected and become hard, so there will be no hollow space between my joint and my spinal, and all the joint will become bones to,

long story short, also 6 months ago, in desperate move of looking for health ( cause the dr told me that i have to take steroid injection, lucky that i'm not ), i joined an Iyengar Yoga class, and after only doing it for 2 months my lower back problem gradually becomes better and better, and then after 5 1/2 months, i can move freely with no pain at all, i can now do back bent, forward bent, inversion etc, which i would never even dreamt or imagined i can do ( having AS really2 limits my flexibility ), that's what makes me even surer that Iyengar Yoga is my Light, i'm now a very devoted Iyengar Yoga student, practicing every day to try reaching back my life through Yoga, Namaste.

Wow, great job!
I hope you are sharing your success with your doctor so that (s)he can wonder about the possibility of yoga as therapy for others with your condition.

Great story. I too have had success recovering from a debilitating back injury and continuing to make progress with yoga.
