Namaste,
My name is Louise. from Holland, 52 years, 30 years married with Kees, 2 grown up children.
Did Hatha yoga for 20 years ( for a bit exercise and relax once a week)
I am registered nurse and have BA managementdegree.
After burned out 5 yars ago i found out- on my own- i just wanted to become healthy - the healing yoga could do.
Changed profession. Started massage training and teachers training Hatha ( in my 4th year now) teach one small class once a week. Also did Tibetan yoga , Zen, Dru yoga, Tai Chi ,chi gung. Like chanting and Krishna Das. Starting to learn more Ayurveda now. Had abyanga today. very good!
Like to reflect and discuss topics with people on yoga and spirit topics and be of help were i can, although i am a beginner. I also learn a lot from what others ask. So thank you all for posting.
By now i realise what health means for me and Mukunda explained in his book about Svastha, i learned so much from his teachings.
Practice ( and teach) yoga now in the light of Patanjali yoga sutra's.

I am gratefull and happy you let me join this forum.
Love this community already. Saw how you people communicate.
I hav problems being brief. Please forgive me
With love and respect to you all
Louise

Greetings,

I'm new to the community too! Yoga is a major part of my life, in fact, what keeps me grounded and sane in an otherwise insane world!

I have practiced on an intermediate level for years (on a scale of 1-5 as videos often rate, I'm a 3-4). I'm largely self-taught with videos and books, very carefully using mirrors and paying a great deal of attention to my body, which is why I haven't pushed myself beyond what I know intuitively to be my limits. But I do practice daily with a varying routine depending on how I feel and what I know I'll need for the day.

In all other aspects of life I'm very hard on my body; for years I worked out obsessively ignoring any pain and repeatedly injured myself, because of an eating disorder/complex. It's still a constant struggle but I find that when I exercise with yoga I am getting all the same benefits (cardio, toning, stretching, strength, aerobic, etc.) plus the elevation of spirit, mood, and general well-being that is absent in all other exercise. So I try to stick to yoga rather than allowing myself to overload with other stuff...

I'm a writer and editor in marketing/advertising. My educational background is in English and then I went back to also do Psychology. I try to embrace spirituality as much as I can, and have always been drawn to expanding my mind in both the mundane and metaphysics (and New Age), as well as other cultures. I love to learn and try new things and am constantly forging a unique and eclectic path on my spiritual journey. Hence how I discovered yoga.

I look forward to interacting with you all here as much as time allows.

Namaste!

Hi Cuisle,
thank you for reacting to my introduction and welcome to you too.
I am happy to hear yoga gave you so much. Very good to know your limit. To know that you must be able to listen and that is very good to have.
greetings from Louise

Hi Louise,
Welcome to the forum.

So glad to learn someone else who enjoys abyanga. I live in England (cold & damp) & I do abyanga once a week, it also helps me restore Vata.

If you have not seen it yet, then the book - Ayurvedic Yoga Therapy by Mukunda is also very good.

Namaste,
Fin

Hi Cuisle & Louise,

Cuisle: Welcome Cuisle, nice to know someone who is also self-taught. Look forward to sharing thoughts & ideas with you.

Louise: Yes I use Organic Cold pressed Seasame Oil for Abhyanga. I have found benefits in swishing a tablespoon of Seasame oil in the morning before brushing my teeth – this helps with cleansing the mouth & throat. BTW I also attended Mukunda’s
Course in the Uk a few months ago – I agree it was great!

Namaste,

Love,
Fin
