New to the forums.
New to Yoga.

Married 21 years - pending divorce.
Daughter freshman in college.

Pursuing Master's in order to teach college (1 more year).

Knee pain from running (working towards a marathon) led me to look at yoga.
So much more than asanas.
Like what I see so far.

Welcome to the forum. I hope this doesn't sounds trite, but when I am really in it, I remind myself that I am never given more than I can handle and given just enough to help me burn off what needs to go. This simple reminder anchors my mind when I start to spin out.

Are you doing anything other than yogasana to assist your knees while you are training?

To both the newbies, welcome. I trust that you will find the answers you need to your questions, inspiration and inner peace from the answers and the responses on the Forum.

I hope this will help. I have two ladies in my yoga class who when they joined they were both on the brink of divorce, nervous breakdowns and depression. Through yoga and our little talks in the class, they have both come to see things differently, understand things better. My advice to the two ladies in my class was, just wait a little, allow some time and both of them are now working at their marriages, their lives and themselves and the growth in both has been tremedous, both are wll in their forties. The husband of the one lady is now even attending the classes when he can.

Thanks for the welcome.

Nicole - as for the knee...rice and rest. I would like to do cardio 6 days per week but with the occasional swelling I only get 3 days of running. Warriors I and II, along with a couple of other poses (names escape me now) - seem to be helping some.

Nash - Welcome to you too, always good to enter a party with someone else. Every marriage struggles after or during the first year - if it is worth fighting for then hang in there (I'm one to talk, I know). BTW, "happily ever after is a lie. Marriage is a struggle and a fight.

Pandara - thanks for the welcome and the advice - not for me though. We realized our entire marraige was based arond our daughter - who is nearly perfect, btw - and with her leaving for school in August - there was nothing left. I offered my wife everything (except my car and half of my 401K) and she took it. My apartment is small and bare but I make enough money to replace anything that I need or want, eventually, though the Buddhist non-attachment ideal seems to be kicking in (or the Christian "poor inheriting the earth" - pick you heritage - it's all good). Miss the dog, though.

xela - it is a beautiful thing. BTW, being an old (newly) single guy and yoga newbie I am very impressed with your avatar - assuming that is you. If it is not...is there a poster? (j/k, about the poster)

About your knee. I've just discovered Arnica cream. It's GREAT for inflammation and its all natural.

And I'm glad you like my av.
