I generally do not start threads on the board.
However, I learned to day this youtube video is available. Now it was NOT posted by subject of the video (Aadil Palkhivala) but by the Omega Institute.

it is here

Thank-you IA,

Very true, just my thoughts on the real purpose of yoga, or the more beneficial purpose of yoga. "So what if you can stand on your head for an hour"...
Good to see some clear teachers out in the world.

Peace,
Soul

I just tried to watch this again and I got this message: This is a private video. If you have been sent this video, please make sure you accept the sender's friend request.

IA: Is there any way that you can be our friendly sender?

Cheers,

I am afraid this is a "you snooze, you lose" as it appears Omega has changed the parameters of the post.

There was actually some zealot who was bashing the video on behalf of Sri Aurobindo. I was not aware Aurobindo had a Seargant at Arms or had retained counsel. Never the less, I felt compelled to engage said zealot.

So I guess they got tired of his rantings and shifted it to private.
Sorry.

If you are still interested in some of this stuff you can try going here.

IA: Thank you so much for sharing the new link. What Aadil shares with us is so lovely. I had to giggle when he said "buns of steel yoga" -- to me, it is similar to when Tom Brokaw says something like "Snoop Doggie Dogg."

I sent a request for Aadil's videos to Stefan at the OmegaInstitute account on Youtube; he explained that he could not put the videos back up because the conversation around the videos had become, "heated, dis-respectful, and somewhat violent." I was sorry to hear that no one could view them now, not even by invitation. The one that I saw had sparked something in me.

Hi Nichole,

Yes the person in particular was very upset by the video and thought it was out of line with Aurobindo's teachings. He or she quoted Aurobindo (Savitri I believe) to serve their purposes. I found it quite sad and perhaps, in hindsight should have stayed out of it.

But life has its lessons.

These other clips (of Aadil) from Yogamates are quite good and the one clip with Krishna Das is very moving if followed till its conclusion. I have had the opportunity to hear from some yoga folks I would not normally be exposed to. Some I liked, some I will avoid studying with

I did watch it a few times before it went down.

"What if you can stand on your head for an hour ? Who cares ? ..."

What we do to make this world a better place after we leave it ... this indeed is noble, responsible and intriguing question. If yoga can help us think like this, than it is indeed useful.

And oddly enough Aadil is a very powerfull asana teacher. So there is this contradictory but complimentary energy going on all the time. Knowing he knows in the grander scheme "so what if you are in sirsasana with no hands" and at the same time teaching you how to brew the poses in such a way that you can be a different human being in your life when you are done, or when you are DONE.
