Always a lesson to be learned

[A Better Me]

Over the last few months I’ve been working with a new teacher who is offering me the opportunity to try new, more challenging poses that in the past I have never had in a class setting. Yesterday she first showed us and then we were given the opportunity to try Baddha Utthita Parsvakonasana (Bound Extended Side Angle Pose). While in the pose (leaning into a previously injured ankle) I lost my balance and fell into the wall and then proceeded to slide down it. I am laughing as I write this because it was as if it was happening in slow motion and I couldn’t unbind my hands quick enough to help stop the fall.
Well when I looked up all 20 students and teacher were looking at me and out of sheer kindness they then continued on with their work as I got up and shook off the rather embarrassing fall. No harm done to me and I simply continued on with my practice (of course the teacher came over to check on me).
Later that day I was practicing a supported head stand at home (the only open wall space happens to be by my front door) when all of a sudden the doorbell rings. Low and behold it is a sales person right there in front of me.
Although those occasions were not planned, they certainly are a cause for laughter, and teach us not to take things too seriously and find joy in everything we do.
