Hi, first forum post ever anywhere on the net... I'm studying the book Yoga for Dummies. I'm having foot problems in the Sukhasana "posture". I have bones that protrude out from my ankles near my Talus bone. It may be my Talus bone, I don't know. Anyway, when I put my foot under my knees the pain is almost unbearable. I use a Yoga mat and that helps a lot. I could put on three pairs of socks but that seems too unnatural. Not vain just unnatural. The thing is my bone is pointy, and it's like the tip of the bone is just digging straight into the floor like a drill. I guess my question is, I want to find a way that I can train my pointy bone to dig into the floor/mat gradually. Any suggestions. Thanks a lot.

Well then, welcome to your first ever forum reply!

Sukhasana is "easy pose" and yet it's anything but easy for you.
Sounds like you are basically saying "I've got an ankle bone". It is the outer ankle that is giving you trouble? There are several things you can try.

• First is doubling up two mats.
• Second is switching the cross of your legs to determine if both ankle bones are sensitive in this way.
• Third, use a folded blanket. It's often more cozy than a double mat and this pose, after all is "easy".
• Change the pose - Sit on a block in Virasana or modify Sukhasana by placing the heel of the left foot at frontal right groins (on the floor) so that the sole of this foot is against the upper right hamstring (when in the pose. Then lift the right foot, bend the right knee, and stack the right ankle bone just above the left, such that the sole of the right foot is at the upper left hamstring.
