Awareness and Surrender

One of my yoga teachers told that the most important thing in yoga is AWARENESS and SURRENDER .

Carolyn Baker suggests in her article "WHAT TO DO? WHAT TO DO? Taking Action In The Face Of Collapse" to "surrender to the idea of collapse" .

You find the article on:
911Truth.org ::::: The 9/11 Truth Movement
and
Carolyn Baker - WHAT TO DO? WHAT TO DO? Taking Action In The Face Of Collapse

How do you deal with reality and possible future realities?

Greetings,
Karin

Awareness and surrender. Who is your teacher ? I want that teacher to teach me, too.

I understand what Carolyn says. Often we are so afraid of certain things, that we refuse even to think about them. Now, this is silly. How can one prepare for a situation with bad potential if not by taking this possibility in account, too ?

Awareness is by what we realize we are in a crappy situation. Awareness is by what we realize that there is really no way out of it. Surrender is what makes us accept this fact. Than we stop worrying, and fear leaves us, (grace comes upon us) and all our power and energy is free again to find a new direction. This new direction might seem crazy, or sad for people who are not with us in this trial ... but we know, we are on track.
This new direction might mean death, for someone with last stage cancer, and by surrender, acceptance, the person might die in peace instead of a cruel agony in fear.
Sometimes bad things are just inevitable. Awareness helps us asess such a situation and surrender (acceptance) releases our energies entrapped by the former struggle in fear and anger. Awareness is crucial as surrender in face of conquerable evil is weakness and leads to distruction, just as fighting an unconquerable enemy leads to the same end.
Sun-Tzu, anyone ? Are we spiritual warriors, or what ?

And he also says:

"My whole life has been a struggle with hard realities, from hardships, starvation in England and constant and fierce difficulties to the far greater difficulties continually cropping up here in Pondicherry, external and internal. My life has been a battle from its early years and is still a battle: the fact that I wage it now from a room upstairs and by spiritual means as well as others that are external makes no difference to its character. But, of course, as we have not been shouting about these things, it is natural, I suppose, for others to think that I am living in an august, glamorous, lotus-eating dreamland where no hard facts of life or Nature present themselves. But what an illusion all the same!"

I think it is a far stretch to try and connect the teachings of Yoga with 9/11 conspiracy theories.

Anyway, in Yoga, I think surrendering is a metaphor for letting go of the stress over little things in life, so that you can focus yourself on more spiritual matters.

Greetings,
Karin
I think the teaching or the reality of Yoga (union) applies to everything, even 9/11.
As to your question on how to deal with reality and possible future realities...What does reality mean to you?
In yogic definition and in mine it means that which never changes, that which is eternal. In other words your true self. The witness, or awareness in you that never changes.
All else is impermanent and always changing and so unreal. How to deal with it is with acceptance and surrender.

Be in Peace,
Soul

Karin,
Thank you for starting this thread. I would like to add this video by Pema Chodren to the 2 articles that you shared with us. I am especially drawn to her statement that things may not turn around in our lifetimes, but that we need to be part of the wave that will effect change. This is one way that I keep hope (and joy) in the face of my own, the planet's and other's suffering.

With my love and respect,
