Greetings my friends,

Like the proverb says : when the disciple is ready, the master appears, so I decided to start preparing myself.
I have been searching for a way to improve my mental state, make my spirit more aware of nature's signals and master my feelings ans negative emotions.

I have been studying different paths since a couple of months and I found out that 2 disciplines appeal to me : yoga & tai chi.

However, concerning yoga, I discovered that there are so many different types and styles that I'm kind of confused here (kundalini, kriya, hatha, vedanta, ashtanga, ... etc). Plus they all seem to focus on the same points : breathing, strength, relaxation, flexibility...

Can anyone guide me here? What should I know? Where should I start?

Thank you

Sorry I just noticed that this question has been asked many times on this forum, but we are not all the same I guess and each one's goals will reflect on a different style.

BTW, I already practice tennis and soccer on a weekly basis so I'm not starting yoga to get physically fit.

My main goal, as you read in my previous message, is to develop my higher self and maybe to discover new powers within my spirit.

Years ago I faced the same situation. I decided to try both, Yoga and Tai Chi. for 3 months. I really enjoyed both but Yoga ended up being the thing for me. When we read about yoga it always seems complicated. Like you said many paths, all kinds of esoteric stuff, Sanskrits words etc. But when you start doing it, it is quite simple. Hatha Yoga was my introduction and then I became curious of Meditation (I used Swami Rama's book on Meditation) and then from there...as you said , when ready stuff comes your way.
