I agree with Sushil that it IS difficult to live a simple life. I live in Shanghai and I can physically feel the pollution, the traffic, the lack of green space and wildlife physically wearing me down. Every time I am out of the city I get a shock that I can actually notice the different seasons, which seem not to exist when heat/AC regulates the temperatures and there are not many flowers and trees around. How sad!
However, I used to work for an environmental campaigning group and have studied a bit about how to make messages appeal to the public and while passion is great, being too aggressive and negative just makes people turn away, no one wants to hear messages like this even if (or maybe because) they know it is the truth. We have to focus on the positivity of what we can achieve through inidividual action, not on the failures of our collectivity.

Excellent Advise, thank you from my heart as what you are saying here makes so much sense and sort of underlines my own belief as well.
