Hi all!!! This is my first post and I am SO glad to be here. hehe.

Anyway, I was wondering... how would I say:

"May I be free from fear. May I be happy. May I be peaceful"

in whatever language yoga is... either sanskrit or hindi. i forget which one though. hopefully you will understand.

kthxbye

Hi,

Why would you want to know the Sanskrit translation of this phrase when the English version works just fine? If you're new to all this I can appreciate how a mantra in a foreign language can somehow feel more "exotic" or "mystical" or perhaps you may imagine that the foreign version may have a better rhythm/sound and is therefore more appropriate for chanting or meditation.
However, in my humble opinion, the underlying thought is most important, not the sounds coming out of your mouth, so it may be easier for you to truly visualize and contemplate "freedom from suffering..." in a meaningful way if you say these words in your native language. If you truly wish peace for the world then doesn't it make more sense to say, "I wish peace for the world!" than "pust budet mir v mire", for example? Even when you understand the meaning, I think chanting something in a foreign language unnecessarily distances you from the concept you're trying to focus on. (This excludes, obviously, words like "om", which have no suitable translation.)
