theres this cute little coffee shop near my yoga studio that i sometimes stop by when i have time to spare. the other day i went in and they were playing this really nice cd with lots of relaxing/mellow music like aimee mann and madeleine peyroux. the barista told me that it's called "eclectic cafe" and that it came out recently, but i haven't been able to find it anywhere yet. my friend at work at umg told me she heard it at the same coffee shop and was looking for it too. has anyone else heard this around or seen it at a store? ive been listening to it online at www.watermusicrecords.com but i'd like to get my own copy soon. i'd definitely recommend it if any of you are looking for some nice relaxing music

im real big on Ravi shankars stuff... i have most his albums and can play just about any of them straight through as kind of background/relaxation type stuff...kind of like a piece of art hanging off the wall...his daughters (Anoushka shankar) album Rise is great too...a little bit more modern indian music with more beats and such...nice reading music too...the instruments have soul...good vibrations in your body...

thats another thing im interested in is music with actual healing sounds in it...anyone got any recomendations?

oh and cant go wrong with portishead's album "dummy" guys...its the best ever.

oh and i gues si dont know anything about what the threadstarter is talkign about, but a good idea for a topic i think.

other stuff to check out

dntel
theivery corporation
tangerine dream
leo kottke
mum
explosions in the sky (they get kinda noisy at times though)

and the most healing and relaxing of all...hope sandavols voice in the band Mazzy Star.

i am also a big fan of portishead's dummy album, as well as thievery corp. i used to listen to mazzy star as going-to-sleep music.

today, there's a nice meditative mix available for free download at fitpod (www.fitpod.com). it's called "whispers of the dharma."

sorry i can't be of help to guitarwhispers!
