Hello!

Could anyone suggest some types of yoga that don't move so fast as Ashtanga, and that aren't so hot as Bikram? I swim & run regularly, so I don't mind a good workout, but I just feel like A) I'm not getting the benefits of full focused, proper, conscientious stretching with Ashtanga, and B) Bikram is just too 'boot camp' for me (the incessant 'push! push! push!', and I have low blood pressure & lose water very easily - every time I do Bikram I always get extremely nauseated, and/or my whole body goes from tingly to actually numb, and I have to stop...).

Any suggestion would be much appreciated.

Sure Rhizome,

Several styles of yoga might be a bit more to the pace you are seeking (and to the elements of saud pace as you've outlined them). Please keep in mind I am not advocating I am simply responding tot he question based on what you've asked relative to what I know.

These are the styles you might investigate

Kripalu
Viniyoga
Iyengar
some which call themselves "hatha"

These are some words that might indicate more of the same rather than what you seek...

Vinyasa
Flow
Hot yoga
Hatha Flow (though this might be a good middle ground for you)
