I once read or heard that in the ancient text, they recommend doing Yoga at either sun up or sundown, can't remember why but if I had to choose, I'd go with sundown, or even before going to sleep. Don't get me wrong, if I do it first thing in the morning, I do feel great the rest of the day because of it but I find myself forcing my way through it sometimes. My muscles and joints just don't seem willing early on. I get the burning feeling, especially in the shoulders.
Any one else have a preference? |

I prefer to practice after work as well because I'm very tight in the morning. I find poses that I do with ease in the evening cause me a lot of "pain" earlier in the day.
It makes no difference though after I've been up for 2 hours or so. |

I prefer to do my yoga early in the morning. That's the best time for me.

I do yoga when I feel that my body needs it, which can be in the middle of the night, in the crack of dawn or in the afternoon or.. You get my point. I often get the urge to do yoga when I'm stressed and angry, which most often happens when I'm at work and that is not a yoga friendly enviroment.

You think you get laughed at, try being an athletic, young male and admit your love for Yoga, then you hear laughs lol. Oh well, we'll see who's laughing later on in life when they can barely climb out of bed in the mornings!!

I don't understand why people think it's strange for a man to practice yoga! But you're right...you'll have the last laugh!

5am every day is when I practice my yoga. There is no better way to start a day off than with yoga.

Its just a macho thing. People make fun of what they don't understand. I was having some recurring knee stiffness the other day, usually happens after jogging. My brother tried saying its because I don't weight train any more, figures I've lost muscle mass in my legs thus weakening my knee. I didn't respond to such an ignorant statement like that, just continued on doing my Yoga.

People are so silly. I have recieved comments from both men and women about me doing yoga. Most of the comments are in line of "But, it's so slow and it looks so easy". I've then put some of them in Warrior II for a while and after that they all seemed to understand that there is so much more to it than just stand with your arms stretched out or sitting down with your arms and legs curled all over.
By the way... I have to feel a little bit sorry for myself... I took out my mat, lit some candles and was SO ready do to some yoga, when my upstairs neighbour decides to play some music. LOUD! I can bearly hear myself think!! |

finding silence among the chaos is a beautiful thing, sounds like a perfect opportunity for yoga

I'm not skilled enough to be able to find silence when it's so much noice. It was so loud that the pictures I have on my walls was bouncing!
But I got my yoga session, though a lot later in the evening than I had planned. |

That's a sweet thing to say.
I have not been practicing yoga for more than 1-2 months, so I dare say that I'm not very skilled yet. I need a little piece and quiet so I can concentrate, everything is still so very new. I don't want to risk going wrong in a posture just because I can't focus, I CAN'T risk that because of the problems I have with my body. |
