I find myself needing more free time in my life. It takes an hour for me to do the suryanamaskar and JFS. If I want to do the asanas also there won't be time because of work. In the evening I cook, shower, washup the dishes, then it's time for bed.
Really, in this age, is 8 hours of work a day too much for us? With the commuting and all that, there is really only a couple of hours of free time each day where it is mostly spent on cooking and other personal errands. With joint family disappearing, a person practically has to take care of everything himself or herself but still has to earn to survive. In the past, a woman's role is to cook and take care of domestic life, and the money part is taken care by the man. I have seen this in India still, women gets up early in the morning and prepare sumptuous meals for everyone in the family. She never feels remorse about it. Now a woman wants 'career' also! Where is the time for everything? She leaves the house for a career. What is the use of having money if you can't eat well and sleep well? Even all these pre-cooked indian dinners with all the emulsifiers are on sale in supermarkets! Why do some people bring unecessary trouble for themselves? Sometimes, I crave if I could just have a day off and have some homemade soup, cook for myself, some exercise for my body, gardening and meditation. |

Hi
Even all the Indian Women's are facing this kind of problem nowadays. But what we need to do is we need to cope up with the current situation and we need to realize the importance of both Yoga and Asanas. Yoga with the proper asanas only yields appropriate results. So do practice Asanas while doing Yoga. Consider yogasanas as one of your important errand. With regards.... kalai@yogasanalive.com |

I believe that women today to lack time for themselves. We push ourselves to be careerwomen, for what? So we can be stressed out all the time? It has fallen under the wayside the importance of having time to yourself for whatever relaxes you and invigorates your soul. People think it's ok to be stressed and not have time to be healthy.... I don't believe it is. it is hard in this environment to do yoga regularly, unless you get up at the crack of dawn! i guess we each have to make induvidual choices...

In my country, an 8 hour job is a luxury. Most executives here work 12-14hours, 5day week. Just imagine! I was in such a job few years ago, and its just work work work, no life, nothing else. Things only change after I switch job to a truly 8hr day with no overtime (with less pay, of course) and took up yoga. *phew so for me i'm actually very thankful...
It's easy to feel overwhelmed and overworked. I think it's good that you are hearing your body telling you so, therefore it may be time to work something out...here's some tips on what I do: - Make a realistic to-do list every day, just a number of items such that you can complete quickly and leave enough time for rest after work - schedule house chores evenly throughout the week so you only do a bit at a time - delegate household tasks among family members? - do up your favourite corner of your house as a retreat so you can always look forward to chill out there at the end of the day? - take leave from work now and then when you feel work is up your neck, and really relax or do JUST your favourite things on that day... - how about taking just part-time jobs so you can free up time to do other stuff in your life? (provided you dont need lots of income at the moment) Just my 3cts!
