Yoga Course (Distance Learning) in India

Dear friends !

I am 32 years old indian male. I am employed person in IT sector.

My Education Background is:

B.Sc.- (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics Combination) - Regular from Mohan Lal Sukhadia University, Udaipur (Rajasthan), INDIA

M.Sc.- (Computer Science) - ‘Distance Learning’ from Maharshi Dayanand University Rohtak, Haryana, INDIA

I am interested in yoga and want to make professional entry in yoga in future.

So, I want to do some ‘Yoga Course’ through ‘Distance Learning’ from a well known UGC recognized university that has good position in UGC ranking.

I want to do it as ‘Distance Learner’ so that I can do it simultaneously with my job.

My future plan is: Either to start ‘Private Yoga Classes’ or to teach yoga in ‘Higher Educational Institutes’.

I am M.Sc. Computer Science and can not do NET/SLET in Yoga because the subjects are totally different.

Please tell me:

Can I do ‘M.Sc.-Yoga’ (or any Master Course i.e. M.Ed. Yoga) from ‘Distance Learning’ so that after its completion I can go for NET/SLET or Ph.D. in Yoga stream (and is there NET/SLET for Yoga also)

I am also planning to apply ‘Yoga Course’ at Yoga Vedanta Forest Academy (YVFA), Rishikesh. This Yoga course will start in mid-August and end in mid-October. But, during these two months, I have an entrance exam for a vacancy in university.

What are other options available ? (Please give your best opinion)

Regards

If you are able to go south, there is a distance program in yoga through University of Madras (I am not sure of the exact qualifications of each), and a program at SVYASA university outside of Bangalore City. The SVYASA web site will tell you which courses they offer for distance. I can not say for sure.

Do you have a yoga teacher yourself who can recommend which school to go to? Rather than pick a school because they have a distance program, you should pick some school that is teaching yoga which you are familiar with and have benefited from. When you go to your yoga course in Rishikesh I am sure that you will find many people who can offer suggestions of great teachers to study under, and this will be more beneficial I think, to you and your students.

Thanks for your suggestions. Meanwhile I searched and found two universities namely:

Annamalai University, Chennai
Bharathiar University - Coimbatore

They also provide ‘Distance Learning’ in Yoga. Now, I am going to inquire them about the admission procedures.

Regards

Namaste
