yoga practice time.

Namaste!

Iam practicing yoga for the past six months. The experience Iam havng is really fantastic. Started to practice Yogasana in the evening yields good result than compared to practice in the mornings.

The reason is whenever i practice asanas with yoga in the mornings i would practice both not more than a hour as i need to get ready for my office. But in the evenings i found a lot of hours for practicng the same.

My query is i came to know that the practice of yoga during mornings only yields a greater result comparing to the same in the eveninigs.

I want to know whether it is true?

If true can i need to change my practicing time?

thanks in advance...

Best is at dawn, but this was unsuitable for me for a long time. (Morning stiffness)
Just practice when you feel fit. After a while, you'll be able to sense different energies at different times of the day.

I prefer morning, when the sun finally peeks over the tree tops, be a bout 45 minutes from now. I feel the sun energize me. Its warm, but not too warm, just enough to get a good sweat going. I did Yoga last night just before bed, it was a really good session, led to a great sleep as well.

I first started taking classes @ night but I've really come to appreciate doing it in the morning and by that I mean 6am. At this point though it's better to do it than not do it because I'm worrying about the time. So whenever. Whoa did that make sense?

Favorite time would be something you prefer. BEST time is debatable.

Best time is what is best for you and gets you in your practice most frequently. I like early morning too, and also nighttime outside with the crickets singing. Morning brings a requirement of less intensity or more warming before going to great depth on your poses. Nighttime brings your heat from daily activity along so deep practice is more possible.

Sorry for my English!

Hello and namaste stefanie,

Let me offer the following for your consideration... perhaps it will lend a hand.

Here's a few ideas for the forum to consider and discuss on meditation times and yoga times (or Sandhya upasana). I will assume one may do yoga and meditate too, as they compliment each other. If I am remiss, please advise accordinly.

It is very traditional to meditate AM and PM - where does this come from?
This is based upon 'gaps' in the day called Sandhya. This 'Sandhya' is considered a junction point in time, and upasana, in one form is meditation.

So, today many meditate AM and PM... there are junction points at these times . What's the junction? Twilight or the changing of the sun's (surya) position in the sky that can translate to ones meditation/yoga experiences. The sun plays a key role in timing everything on earth AND is the atman or soul indicator for all on this planet. Since meditation deals with realizing the SELF ( Atman) , the sun has its influence here.

There are additional junction points [sandhya]: Sunrise, noon, sunset and midnight are considered the key sandhya times during the day. Also note there are these junction points during the 12 months as the sun, surya transits one zodiac sign to another [sankrati]; Like that, there are multiple other times, but for now lets look at the following:

Morning is Brahma Muhurta Sandhya
Noon for Vishnu Sandhya
Sunset called Mahesha Sandhya
Midnight called Kali or Turiya Sandhya

As we meditate/do yoga close to these junctions, it is thought that higher states consciousness are closer or easier to reach, hence the value of these times.

So, A.M. is Brahma Sandhya - a excellent time - around the time before sunrise. I have without fail enjoyed the best experiences at this time, as it is said, all nature wakes up at this time. You can (I can) feel the whoosh of life's energy begin at this time.
And PM, is Mahesha Sandhya ~ around sunset/twilight, just as the sun goes down below the horizon i.e. twilight.

pranams,

I too agree with xela. You should be doing it as per your time availability. And select the time most suitable for you.
