Discovering the Essence of Peace

"People often
use judgment as a way
to control others.

They negate the way
their spouse is,
their friend is,
their child is

in an unconscious
mode to change them.

But it does not change them,
it simply makes them feel wrong.

Makes them hate themselves.

So you tell your child
often enough
they are bad,
they will believe it.

If you abuse someone enough,
they will automatically abuse themselves
for the rest of their lives.

But everyone is just as they are.
Everyone's outer personality
is a byproduct
of so many things that
cannot be controlled.

If I get angry
at my dog
for not eating his dinner,
is my anger actually
caused by my dog?

He is simply being him.
Perhaps he was not hungry.
Perhaps the food did not taste good.
He had a tummy ache.
He was too blissful to eat.

Whatever the reason,
he was not doing it to get at me.
He was not hurting me in any way.
He was being him.

But that is where the ego kicks in.

If the ego feels disrespected
by someone acting differently
to the way he thinks they should act,
then out comes the anger,
out comes the judgments.

It is an unconscious
ongoing battle.
The desperate desire
to try and control others.
To make them the way you think they should be.

So the remedy is always acceptance.

The next time someone
does something that does not fit in
with your beliefs,

Perhaps they burp loudly,
or they say something
or follow something
you do not believe in,
or they do not finish their dinner
or they slept late,
or can't get a job,
or they reacted to something you said,

Why not accept them as they
are.

Give up trying to control.

Let your ego
feel shattered & disrespected.

In acceptance
you free yourself
and others,
love flows naturally
and you make this world
a better place.

Blessings,

Kip"

more questions

I have been pondering over this for a while even before I read this posting. Since all is Divine and the mind out not to judge, then how should I interact with others in the world. My question came from my experience, for example, in day-to-day life.

I get on a crowded train, and a guy indecently lay his hand on me. What should I do in this situation. I feel disgusted, move away to another compartment and avoid him. I felt my dignity was taken away. He may be enjoying it without thinking anything 'bad'. But the way I reacted and moved away, am I actually not accepting him to be himself then?

So what should I do? Should I just allow him to touch me, and try to turn the disgusted feeling created in my mind into something else? How far should I go to accept others? Even as I think about it, it seems my body seems inbuilt with this reaction over someone's lust, then I find it very hard to not react or prevent him from repeating it. Is he harming me in any way...certainly not physically injuring. But why, some stranger's lust seems so bad that most women seem to feel disrespected when targeted.

I can come up with many other experiences of how I interacted or reacted. How far can we say whether someone has injured you or not? What is meant by 'harm' anyway? When someone beats you with a stick, I run away. But sages like Ramana Maharishi allows the thief to beat his other leg also!

So, how should I interact with others, since all is divine? Should people just allow others to rape, torture, beat or assault them, etc....without defence against their actions?

If you think like living as Ramana Maharishi and all ... Todays people wont allow you bacause there is no humanism with people today.

Dealing with people who do not respect you

I know that this post is a few months late---I just joined this wonderful forum.
I too, have undergone this struggle with people. What I do is this:
Calmly stand up for yourself. Move away, show that you have boundaries for people who do not respect you...Love yourself. This is important, as you do not deserve disrespect from anyone.
