This is a poem i wrote years ago, before being given the name Chandra, which refers to the Goddess of the Moon. Seems even then She was talking to me...
EMERGENCE There is an emptiness growing in my soul. Like a child in the womb it gnaws at me. Fed on broken wings and crusts of ideas; it burns like a bonfire. All I can see is the still silence hanging above the ocean on a cloudy night. The moon sends white reflections across the surface of the water like the secrets of a lover. She tells me to listen. Somewhere, the aching thing is growing. It is dark inside the heart and as cold as winter in Wisconsin. It hibernates, waiting for the moment to explode in anger or love. Create me, it cries, but I cannot find the thing. I can only hear it... Buried in the snow drifts, sinking in the dark ocean, hidden in the sparkling image of the moon cast in the mirror of a puddle. copyright Chandra 2002 |
