I don't know why we are in such a hurry to get up when we fall down. You might think we would lie there and rest awhile.

I love that quote! Reminds me of just last night when I taught myself "reclining hero pose" and fell back on my pillows into it, and for the first time I felt some kind of crack in my upper legs that felt like a true opening and I did stay there for quite a while to rest. I can't wait to do it tonight again and to show my baby nephew the next time I see him. I know he'd love it too.

Kids LOVE that pose and can do it a heckuva lot better than us "old" folks. A friend sent the quote to me after reading my blog entry about falling down in standing balances ... Enjoy the stretching tonight!

This is going further off topic, but this needs to be addressed.
Christine (HW), I know you are teaching yourself some things from books, and while you have not asked for guidance here, I would like to speak to your comment about the "crack" because there will be others who will read this and who may mistakenly draw the same conclusion because of what you have said. Healthy range of motion in the hips, hip opening as part of that, happens when the many muscles of the hip rotators are well-loved, warm and ready. Pops, cracks and other sounds like these, originate from joints and from the tendons...this is very unsafe for the integrity of your joints. You want lengthening (sometimes referred to stretching) to take place in the belly of our muscles, not the ends where they meet the tendons and never in the joints. Please be careful with that sweet body of yours.

Nichole!

I fall down! I need guidance! I find this place a nice and restful place to get back up slowly.

Thanks for the insight. Actually, I didn't know that about sounds, wasn't sure if it was a good thing, and am very happy to say I haven't had one since.

You're doing great!
I agree--this a nice restful place and I am glad you "landed" here.
