What Your Are: What You Can Be
A Mother's Prayer

Let me not forget, when I look in your eyes;
choose the words I say to you,
the magic of having someone who believes in you.

When you are loved, truly loved,
for what is in your heart,
misdeeds are erased,
worries resolved,
and you can feel the joy which lies within.

All things are possible.

Dreams come true.
When you are truly loved.
You open to all that you can be.
A reservoir of wonder,
fuel to carry you into the future.

And though sometimes it seems to me
that I struggle to exorcize
the ghosts of my parents' words to me,
or their parents' words to them;

Though I may falter,
shy of risking to be all that lives within my own heart;

Though I may stumble at the threshold,
remembering fear and disapproval;

Let me always meet you
with open heart and open arms,
open mind and open eyes,
seeing within you
Beauty fresh,
Hope renewed.

May I not bind you
to the same sorrows that trouble my nights.
May I not see myself
reflected in you -
tethering you to the same wounds,
the same folly.

But rather, let me heal myself,
own the anger, the sorrow,
the fear and pity
which constrain my own becoming.

Seeing you
as you are -
a flower
whose fragrance has never before
Graced the Earth.

All possibility is yours,
yes,
but it is you
who must look within yourself
to find what you will be.

Le me not shackle you
with burdens which are mine to carry.

Rather, let me provide
safe harbor;
to explore, and expand,
try, master, discard.
Always loving
Always praising
Always honoring...

Until you stand before me,
sure,
of who you are,
sure,
that you will alway
become more,
sure,
that you are loved.

thank you for your Mother's Prayer. The areas around not putting my sorrows on my child and allowing them to find the Divine in themselves resonates with me. Namaste. Sirie
