Baker's cyst

I had surgery for a torn acl and meniscus in 2002. My aunt, who is a massage therapist that specializes in sports injuries, told me I am developing a baker's cyst. Is there any poses I can do to help pin point the pressure and relieve the fluid that is getting trapped? I have a block that I rest my knee on to help, my aunt told me to push a pressure point under my knee where I can feel the fluid pulse through, but I cannot seem to get it on myself. I really don't want another surgery.

First and foremost as a yoga teacher I exercise great care is sharing such information with students. Why? Because when you tell someone they have something, they typically believe you. And the mind is so powerful it can become a self-fulfilling prophecy. This is one of the reasons I dread when an allopathic health care provider tells a patient they will never ______.

So let's assume you do NOT have a Baker's Cyst. It may be so but I would not typically recommend a massage therapist NOR a yoga teacher for such a diagnosis. Though your Aunt may be dead on. Consider having it looked at by the health care provider of your choice. If that person IS your Aunt then it's best to get remedy from her.

Generally speaking, students exhibiting what you are referring to are handled therapeutically. There are some very specific ways to deal with knee issues and many yoga teachers are NOT trained is such measures. There is no magic blue asana pill for therapeutic issues. Yoga (or any other holistic pursuit) takes time, patience, and focus.

So I'd recommend seeing a highly trained yoga therapist if you are interested in healing this with yoga's help. If that does interest you, please tell me where you are located and I'll see if I know someone in your area - or perhaps one of the others here might.
