I am interested in understanding this channeling of Shakti more fully. You say this is a gift from one's teacher or from the formless, which can be given and taken away, but that in your experience it is preexisting. Is it true that this connection to Shakti is a deeper perception of one's reality -- one's connection to Source, which is usually covered by the holdings of experience which are like constrictions which limit this vision or experience of Shakti?

Yes, A good way to put it. Many different philosophies are there - Vedanta says the covering is due to illusion, not seeing what is the Truth. Yoga says the irregularities of the mind hide the truth and the resultant loss of one's identity to the True Self. For Tantra and Kashmir Shaivism it is the play of consciousness or the Divine Play manifesting as the lovers Shakti seeking for the Beloved Siva. Many other systems are there also in Indian cosmology science.
