Excessive Thirst and Anger

Practicing Kundalini moreso for two years. Before that I have danced from my living room to the stage, I'm physically preoccupied and hyper-aware to my sensations.

Recently, in the last five years I have gone from being vegan to vegetarian to raw and underweight, to vegan junk food eater, usually consuming copious amounts of wine.

Occasionally and most increased since then I become extremely thirsty in the evenings accompanied by anger.

After drinking water I become excessively angry. Distilled water may leave me less upset.

Does this ring a bell for anyone? I am tired of being angry and tired of questioning my internal guidance.

How can I discover the root of the problem from this symptom? Does this Symptom sound familiar to anyone?

light and life all heart

The asnwer

Hi,

I think the answer to your question is contained in your post. Stop drinking copious amounts of wine and start to eat a balanced diet.

You become excessively angry after drinking water as your body has grown fond of alcoholic drinks. When you drink water it is the same action, but the drink lacks alcohol, and it feels that it is denied something. Hence the frustration, and anger. (Distilled water has no taste, thus the trigger does not kick in)
You have become addicted to alcohol. Your brain has been physically modified, and it's receptors need the stimuli from alcohol. So do not trust your internal guidance what says you should drink. Alcohol is an addictive substance. Noone should regularly introduce it into his/her body, as it creates addiction.
If you feel it is beyond you, seek professional help.
Otherwise, welcome to the club ... we are all addicted to something.

I'll simply reply and tally what you've already said but in different terms.

Your practice, diet, and lifestyle do not appear to be bringing you joy. Is the current fruit of your behavior the desired fruit? If it is, then continue on. If it is not....

Carefully examine how you are being served by this action and that action. The simple rules of cause and effect are at play (often simplistically confused with Karma).

To me, if the residue of my practice, the result, that which occurs from it...if those things are not bringing me closer to the Self, if I am not (over 5 years) moving toward my dharma or purpose for being here, then change is warranted. The practice itself, for me, should have significant, observable, and tangible result - beyond a shinny coat, open pores, and lean muscle mass.

If by changing your diet to one of more stability. If by eliminating Caffeine, Alcohol, Tobacco, and Sugar from your diet while adding the concepts of hydration, oxygenation, and alkalinity...if those things alone do not facilitate what I reference in the paragraph above, then perhaps a different sort of yoga practice is appropriate.

However, it is not for me to TELL you to do so. It is for you to experientially discover if you are being served by the things you are bringing into your life and in what ways that serving is occuring.

It is possible you are just angry (and thirsty). It is possible you have stirred this up for processing. It is also possible you are aggravating yourself with these lifestyle choices. As a yogi it is to us to carefully weigh the dualities that present themselves. Do not dwell on them but do examine the myriad of possibilities and rule out the ones that don't bring you closer to the heart center and embrace the ones that do.

I am not sure alchohol is the problem, is it possible that you are trying to escape something and that is why you seek ways of altering your mind? Many people seek yoga to alter their mind, that is why I got on the path. I have become obsessive about yoga at times, but then I dont expect myself to be perfect. I seek to find myself, to find my balance. So you practice Kundalini yoga, how is your meditation practice going? My mind is very active so for me the most imporant part of yoga is meditation. I can do all the physical stuff one asks for however long necessary, but ask me to sit still? sometimes in life the hardest thing to do is the most necessarry.

Just my thoughts
best wishes
