Higher senses are those you can say from 36 steps of Kashmir Shaivism or 24 steps of Samkhya evolution. The process referred to is the involution of consciousness back to its source. Along the way from self-centeredness it must progress as a withdrawal of the senses to their subtler forms. And so all the senses are transformed by this process. They are the intuitive sense, the inner light, inner sound, etc. They are referred to again in the transformations spoken of in chapter III, 9-17 and 22. Keep on it. Good questions. Blessings.
