Question on Yoga Sutras I, 42 "An object's qualities become merged so that thoughtful distinctions cannot be made" What is it's meaning, purpose? Is this the eventual merging with the One?

Yes, as unity consciousness comes closer, distinctions made by the mind are no longer functional. In the beautiful book, All is One published by Ramana Maharshi ashram, the sense that everything and everyone is distinct is due to the hyper functioning of the mind, By relaxation of the mind, unity is experienced and with it tremendous relaxation, peace, and contentment. Of course there are virtues to the mind but true peace is not due to its activity.
