The passage from "The Spiritual Teaching of Ramana Maharshi" that I was
trying to find yesterday is in the chapter on Practice, question 9 - What is The nature of the heart? Answer....."there are six organs of different colors. One of them resembling the bud of a water lily & situated two digits to the right is the heart. It is inverted & within it is a tiny orifice that is the seat of dense darkness (ignorance) full of desires. All the psychic nerves (nadis) depend upon it. It is the abode of the vital forces, the mind & the light (of consciousness)."... This was attention grabbing. Sounded like this is the center of discrimination that the subtle bodies attune to. How do you interpret this? |

That all consciousness arises from this spiritual heart. It is the source of what we call the mind. From here arise all the nadis, chakras, thoughts, and ability to direct our attention. By coming here all the vacillations begin to quiet and ultimately if we can stay there long enough the desires terminate and Self-realization is the result. Ramana gave realization to his mother by holding one hand on her head and the other on her heart for 8 hours as she was passing from this world.
