what are your thoughts on the evil eye? does it exist? how can you tell/feel? how do you expel it, cleanse it from a house once it has entered?

curious on other's thoughts regarding this...

Based on information found here, it is such a widespread belief/superstition, that one must say, there must be something behind it. That something could be anything, from archaic fear of being stared at (staring is a sign of agression for many species, but probably many other plausible scientific theories could be associated with it, not necessarily true) to actual supersensible action. I was not preoccupied with this, and I never expereinced or even heard about it happening to someone I know.

Thinking about it, I could not rule out the possibility of a person of much superior will power, (think Rasputin) being able to use a commanding glance with hypnotic effect. Indeed, many are able to hypnotize animals this way ... and if someone has been initiated into superhuman will, that person theoretically could use it to manipulate others.

Do not forget the danger of female eyes ... what usually cause much trouble to males of somewhat weaker astral nature. But I would not call that necessarily evil ... after all one can't call predators evil, they just do what they do, similar to our women. You know when they just give you The Look.

I think it possibly comes from knowledge of the third eye.
The third eye can be used for good or bad.
I sent a thread previously about a book I read on remote viewing. The book was technical and was mainly concerned with remote viewing used in the armed services, spying etc.
I was surprised when references made to psychic attacks using the third eye ended with the comment that "all the people who participated in these attacks had lost their souls"
The only non technical comment in the book.

So, if the third eye is used with bad intent, it can cause great harm to others.
I firmly believe this is true.

I dont think it is as simple as a look with our usual two eyes. Or the charm of a womans eyes, I think it is the third eye being used negatively.

zo_manik, I "cleanse" meditatively. During my meditation a envision a golden light filling my home (or body) and fill every nook and cranny with this light. If you were Christian I would suggesting visualizing it as the Holy Spirit, but perhaps you could just infuse this golden light with all the good will and positive energy you can summon. It is also useful to be thinking something along the lines of "anyone who means harm to those who live here will be repelled by this light".

It seems to work well for us. We often get people commenting on how peaceful our home is, and we are often a refuge or haven for those with bruised hearts and other spiritual maladies.

Does that help at all? I have a friend who might be able to give me more specific instruction for you if you wish. He uses sage etc. You might also want to do a bit of research into Native cultures, they have purifying ceremonies that have been used for generations.

Oh, and yes I do believe in the "evil eye". I did not when I was younger, but I do now. I believe that if enough energy is poured into either positive or negative thoughts they become forceful enough to wreak havoc. As to how you can feel it, well thats pretty tough. I have felt it when there is a lot of discord between members of the home, or when someone has had a troubling day at school or work and brought that energy home with them. It need not be something that was intentionally directed at us, but perhaps unintentionally. Still needs to be pushed out though.

I do not, per se. I do believe that an evil thought can be placed in your mind convincing you that something terrible will happen or you are cursed, then your mind finding the path of least resistance in order to manifest that 'destiny'. Your mind can just as easily be convinced that the evil eye is 'hooey' and carry on down a more pleasant path.

Recently I have come upon something related to this. We also use our eyes to talk. But this eye-talk is unconscious. This does not mean we do not read it, just that we do not become fully conscious of the messages we recieve this way. Like: she likes me a lot. Or: he's up to something. In this latter case, we might say that we expereinced and "evil eye".

Hello..

As you know, all faiths tend to tell you to be nice, good, truthful, decent honest.kind compassionate etc..all the good words..in Yoga too.

Why?

And then when you read about the Chakras in Yoga (I have had a recent look) and you get to the information about how to open the third eye chakra, it is actually, a third eye when it is opened. Hence its name, yes?

So when you have it open, what will we see and can you do anything?

You can use the third eye in this world. You can direct your thoughts at a particular place, person or thing and you will see them/it . You can enter a crack and see whats in it. And because the third eye chakra greatly enhances psychic abilities, you will know exactly what you are looking at...and any questions you ask about the scene, in your mind, will be answered correctly.

But there are other dimensions and in one, quite close to our world, you will be presented with things.
These things can be frightening, unexpected and weird and potentially dangerous to your physical and mental health....but also in the same dimension you may be presented with someone, more than one being.that is extremely beneficial to acknowledge. It depends on how cleaned up your mind is.

So...going back to why we have to practice being nice is because your intention matters in third eye states.greatly and in any meditative state. This is because you can do harm. If you have any bad intentions as to why you are nosing around, using the third eye chakra then you can do harm with what you see. So there is a great emphasis on having no desire when meditating and to develop a simple happy mind...

I have found that it is the state of your mind that advances you in meditative states.that opens the chakras Hence the repetitious be nice mentioned in all faiths etc

I read and know that we are seen as lights in other dimensions. Bright lights that become brighter the more you clean your mind out. This brightness is very attractive to wandering not so good souls. They can latch onto you and make your life here extremely destructive on any level. But they also know when you are mentally unmovable in your empty focus and cannot latch on to you.

I also read that if you see your relatives that have passed, you are to cut them down with a sword...of course this is a mental sword. The idea being to look past unmoved by these sights. You know when you are meeting someone beneficial, you would think your relatives would be a good sight and beneficial, but not if you are aiming for enlightenment.

I think the third eye was used in not so good ways by many in the past. This was probably common knowledge. Now it appears a Myth in the West where these things are not common in practice. The precise information given about third eye practice, meditation and developing the right mind is 100% accurate, it is up to us to take it seriously.
