I am planning to go to Thailand or somewhere similar, from mid April to mid May, to write. Its a working holiday I want a beach hut on a quiet beach where i wont be distracted, but im also looking for daily access to yoga {Preferably Shadow or Hatha} and Organic vegetarian food.
Does anybody have any ideas where i can find such a place, or better still, some experience of such a place? Kevin |

Have you been to Koh Samui? It's a big island which has plenty of peaceful & quite areas but also offers some other amenities that you might need if it's a longer stay. You might want to write to Dharma Healing Center and ask them if they can point you in the right direction.
I stayed in a beautiful and peaceful bunglow when we visited Koh Phi Phi. It was on Long Beach which is accessible only by hiking or via a ride in a long boat. It can get kind of pricey (or can be rainy) depending on the time of year you visit. Koh Samui and the east coast often has less rain when the south western side is in rainy season. You may find the rain peaceful but if sun is what you are looking for, then that might help you narrow down your search. |

I am not sure, I was there in June & July and it was rainy season. It rained quite a lot when we were on the western side and we heard the weather was much nice on Koh Samui so that's where we went and it was indeed much nicer. I found this link that has some more general details about the climate:
Thailand Weather Climate Temperature I am no expert on Thailand, I only spent about 6 weeks there. I think Koh Samui is a good bet but you need to understand that there is a peaceful side and a party side of the island. It also has big shopping centers with a nice cinema in case you want to go to a movie or go grocery shopping. Some of the smaller town are so small that things like the cinema and nice modern grocery stores do not exist. It's more a matter of what you are looking for. On Koh Samui you can rent a moped for very little and take a short ride across the island to civilization but also retreat back to your peace abode on a quiter corner of the island. I would do some research using Google and see what you come up with. If you don't have your flight yet, check out International Flights, International Airfare Deals - vayama. I have found some great deals on international tickets on that site. You can also look on Cheap Flights, Airline Tickets, Cheap Airfare & Discount Travel Deals - Kayak.com and www.mobissimo.com for tickets. If you search all three you should be able to find the best rates. They each search different airlines and ticket wholesalers. |
