Wow! That’s great.

Are you visiting an Ashram & if so which one.

My dream is to spend some time at Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi Ashram at Arunachala.

I am sure you will have a great time.
Please share your experiences when you return.
Love,
Fin

Nichole,
How very exciting for your. Traveling is such a wonderful experience regardless of how near or far you are traveling, but India sounds like a wonderful journey.
Enjoy!

Thank you for the kind wishes for our adventure. I will doing some study at Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram and I will also do some Ayurvedic study too, though I haven't picked the place yet. I don't usually care to stay specifically in ashrams when I travel because it puts me too much with other non-nationals and I love to being with the Indian people, riding the locals' buses, buying my own food, etc. For me, catching glimpses of my-Self has been more possible during travel than from hours of practice. It is hard-going and it shakes me up--I have had brilliant moments of seeing my ego as not my-Self. India ripens my heart. See, I begin to swoon over her

We fly into Dehli and then out of Mumbai in January. We are going north immediately, and into Lahdak and Kashmir. I not sure then...we let it ride usually. We are hoping to get into Pakistan briefly too, though we've heard visas for Americans is becoming tough to get--I am not sure if this is the true though.

I am going to look into the place that you mentioned Fin. Thanks for that

WOW! how Great!

the heart lives off the energy of adventure!

So, is your husband a yogi as well?

will this be your 1st time to India?

will we lose you, here, until you return?

if not, are you gonna be able to post some notes and maybe some pics?

very nice!

Namaste!

Congratulations on your trip! I've thought a lot about going to visit KYM, have you been there before? Are you studying with the 4 week intensive group in September or something else? When I found out about it the registration was already closed, unfortunately, otherwise I would love to study with them.

I will be outside of Bangalore for the month of November, possibly earlier than that if I change my tickets but those plans are in the making. Its so exciting to buy those tickets, I know exactly what you felt when you posted this!

Smiles

Suryadaya,
Congratulations on your upcoming trip too It is such happy news and I am glad to share it here too. Our plans are progressing; we are sending our passports out for our Indian visas today. Also checking into the shots we may need--since we were in India less than 3 years ago, we are hoping to skip some this time around. Are you going take any malaria prophylactics since you will be mostly in the south? We are considering it again, but the cost is quite high--8USD a pill a day for each of us.

I haven't studied at KYM before, but a colleague of mind recommended it highly. Originally, I had planned attend the September training, but we wanted to be in the north from August until November as we are hoping to go into Nepal, Tibet and Bhutan as well and we need to do that early in our trip because the passes start closing due to winter settling in. It seems that you can take private classes at KYM as well, outside of the larger group trainings and this is what I am planning to do. Studying their Pancha Maya therapy protocols, Ayurveda and Vedic chanting.

We arranged our tickets to fly into Delhi and out of Mumbai so that we can stay in the south once we are down. I am hoping to visit Saptashring Mountain, which is north of Mumbai, where Swami Prakashananda, Mukunda's spiritual mentor, and now mine too, lived and died.

CZ~the heart does indeed benefit from the energy of high adventure! The mind too! I have been to India once before, as part of our honeymoon. We spent one month there, out of the five months that we traveled. We went to 22 countries on that trip and India is the first one we are returning to! It is so hard-going and so beautiful: you are lost in it and consumed by her. Your own body does even smell familiar by the end of month, between the spices in the foods and the scents in the air, you become something new. There is no place like it that I have been to.

I am going to check in on the forum, but not as frequently, I hope. I need a break from the computer because I am online too much for my own good--I am really feeling it. For an example, when I first wake up in the morning, I sometimes check my email before I get myself a glass of water! Eek, this no good!

My husband, Luke, is a Yogi too, but mostly an off-the-mat-and-into-the-world Yogi. I admire him tremendously.

I am going to share a picture of our day at the Taj Mahal from our last trip. We were told by the Indian tourist that we traveled around and with, that if we watched the full moon rise over the Taj Mahal within a year of our wedding, that we would be blessed with eternal love. We arranged the end of our month in India very carefully during November 2005 to make it to the Taj for the full moon, and so far so good!

… and also there is an intense sense of worship around you. In cities, towns & hamlets there are temples, some large & majestic some occupying just a part of a side walk. If you can, attend an arti at a local temple (mandir) with local congregation, here you will see divine magic happen…

When you hear an Arti in progress make your way to the temple and just stand at the peripheries of the crowd of worshipers and I sometimes experience something which surpasses the five senses …

I have no doubt you will have a wonderful time in India…

Nichole - Yes I'll be getting the Malaria pills. I have this track record of being unusually susceptible to every disease I come in contact with and I'm not going to be risky on my first trip there. I'll have to look into the private trainings available at KYM. I've never found any information on the website so I'll have to dig deeper! Thanks for letting me know!
