I have several asanas featured in some new software. The maker wants to use this image. But I cannot for the life of me figure out what the name of it is. I use it to stretch my core. And the image was thrown in with the others I submitted. We'd like to figure it out asap.
(I'll post a link to download the software when its complete. It is free)

Namaste,
had a look through all my books and the nearest I can gather is that it is a variation of a torso flex, but sorry no name anywhere or description. Hope it helps, perhaps somebody else might add something else.

My guess would be that it is not an asana at all but perhaps someone's stretch that found its way in to the practice. I don't think it has classical yoga origins based on this poster and Light on Yoga.

I attended a class early on where the teacher called this The Rooster; it was simply something to warm up with in her class. I don't think this holds a Sanskrit name or is it an actual asana either.

In the Kripalu yoga tradition, the pose is called Star Gazer. I've not ever heard of a Sanskrit name of the asana.

I call this posture, 'PARSVOTTONASANA YOGA MUDRA'
(A version of Pyramid pose with the yoga mudra arm and hand position) This is what you do on the inhalation and on the exhalation you would fold forward. as far as you can trying to lay the chest on the front thigh. You can also hold this version for a few breaths longer for more of a backbend. |
