12. Bhahai: ‘O’ Lord! Refresh and gladden my spirit. Purify my heart. Illumine my powers. I lay all my affairs in thy hand. Thou art my Guide and my Refuge. by now you must have an little insight into Vedas. The knowledge of Vedas is called aporeshaya means it is not created by any body, nobody has written it. All the seers have clearly written that it is of divine origin.Till treta yuga i.e pre mahabharat war this knowledge and knowledge of Yoga was imparted in gurukuls till the age of 25 to all the disciples. All the students under the seers used to follow vow of brahmacharya. And after that they used to chose the ashrams of there choice.Ladies/girls also used to study vedas do yogas and realise god. In Vedas there are nearly 30 Rishikaswho were mantradrishta. To arrive at any point or to conclude truth there used to be shastrath i.e debate where scohalrs used to put their points. One such famous debate is between Gargi Guru of Sita mata and King janak and rishi Yagavallak. The practise of astanga yoga and preach of vedas never go waste. When you follow both you accumulate good karmas as we all have our duty towards God.In your next birth You will continue from where you have left.Further knowledge of vedas is called Brahama vidya, Brahma means almighty God.This knowledge is never destroyed as said by gyanis. The knowledge of Yoga is self contained in Vedas. In spite of distortions/changes you can always learn it in the purest form by the Knower of Vedas.Further i would like to mention there is one and only one yoga i.e Astanga yoga unlike so many forms available today i.e Power yoga, christian yoga .... We under the three gunas of prakriti commit such mistakes of monopolising yoga which is a divine knowledge for the benefit of human race. The seers till date has not modified it.The preach of vedas purifies your senses and makes you acquainted with true nature of soul , further it gives other worldly knowledge like astrology, mathematics etc.All the upnishads, even the preach of Bhagwad Gita is based on Vedas .Coupled with this the knowledge of Yoga step by step annihilate your Karmas accumulated over no of births. At the satage of nirvikalp samadhi when you realise god you are liberated.
So be sincere in your practice of yoga and if possible gain the true Knowledge of Vedas. However to get the real knowledge of vedas is difficult outside india.I find even difficult in india. The authentic commentries are of Swami Dayanand Saraswati but it is in Hindi, he was a realised yogi and knower of yogas, you can get it in Arya Samaj. However read Gita, the commentry close to the hindi versions are by Swami AC Bhalkivedata Prabhupad.B'cos at times it is difficult to translate everything in english as some words of Sanskrit have deeper meanings.Personally i have a copy of Gita written by Saint Gyaneshwar, he wrote gita some where in 1400 AD when he was 15 years old.He took mahasamadhi at the age of 21.With the hard practice of yoga, its yama, niyam and meditation we can realise God.Further we require devotion(Bhakti),Knowledge(Gyan) and prayer. While meditation repeat gayatri mantra. This will help you a lot.In addition to all this discharge your duties towarde spouse, children and parents dedicatedly. All the seers were married, while discharging all the duties they used to follow brahmacharya, untill you want to be a naishtik brahmachari.
