Falun Dafa

Wanted to urge you to explore this system of Xiulian ( Cultivation Practice), as it helped me get rid of all my long term diseases in an extremely short period of time…

If you are interested in learning the exercises, you can use the videos here (Falun Dafa - The Falun Dafa Exercises ) along with the book Falun Gong. ( http://www.falundafa.org/book/eng/pdf/flg_2001.pdf )

Kindly see the other post( http://www.yogaforums.com/forums/f16/falun-dafa-1586.html ) by the same name. I posted this twice by mistake.

This is a very controversial practice.
Some of the controversy can be attributed to paranoia on the part of the government of China. I’m not sure, however, that they shoulder the burden of the entire controversy.

I personally do not have an opinion one way or the other. I tried the practice briefly a few years ago, mostly for the experience of it.

Here’s an interesting interview with the founder from about seven years ago. The founder, Li Hongzhi, mentions he does not think this should be used for healing. And yet one of the primary “marketing” elements IS healing. In fact the OP above mentions removing illnesss and disease.

A decision to practice, whether it’s pranayama or Qi Gong should be an informed decision. Opting to do or to not do are both “okay” when coming from an energetically clean place.

This may be worth looking at in order to make such an informed decsion.

Ultimately, there is no one right truth or answer. It is what works for you, the individual. And therefore this may be for some while it is not for others.

Dear Sir,

I wish to point out that “marketing” is not at all an appropriate term as all activities are absolutely free of cost and learning and practicing are completely voluntary. All the books, lectures and exercise instruction videos are available for download free of cost on falundafa.org

Cultivation practice can lead to perfection of health but that in itself cant be considered the goal. I request you, most humbly, to please go through the lectures… The lectures will answer all your questions in depth.

Hundreds of millions of people around the world have experienced the healing benefits of Falun Dafa… I remember seeing this quote by Master Da Liu, the Master who introduced Tai Chi and Qi Gong to North America, and considered by many in the west to be an authority on Qi Gong… He said it at the age of 95, after having spent a life time studying and practicing Tai Chi and Qi Gong…

“I had been teaching Taichi and studying various Qigong practices for more than 40 years when I started looking into Falun Dafa. I now tell ALL my students to practice Falun Dafa.”- Da Liu …

Before the onset of the persecution, Falun Gong had recieved several awards from state Qi Gong Organizations in China, including the most prestigious awards at the Oriental Health Expo…

Kindly see the results of a state sponsored survey done in Beijing in 1999 on 10000 practitioners … http://www.falunau.org/healthsurvey.htm

The following study done at by a team of reputed researchers from Baylor College, and Microarray Core, Center for immunology at University of Texas

states: “We here report the cellular and molecular changes in Falun Gong practitioners’ PMNs that may attribute to enhanced immunity, alteration of apoptotic properties in favor of a rapid resolution of inflammation, as well as PMNs longevity based upon a much more economical balance of protein synthesis and degradation.”
“Drastic system-level changes of gene expression were detected in PMNs of Falun Gong practitioners, while little changes were detected among non-practitioners, despite the differences in age and gender. Most interestingly, the genes that are regulated in a consensus fashion among the practitioners can be grouped into several functional clusters, which are directly linked to PMN functions in anti-viral immunity, apoptotic property and possibly longevity based upon a much more economical balance of protein synthesis and degradation.”

I also hope you’ll find the experiences some have shared here( http://www.clearwisdom.net/emh/download/publications/LifeAndHopeRenewed.pdf , Falun Dafa Clearwisdom.net ) inspiring… : ) …

I wish to share this with those who are not aware about the persecution happening in China… In a few years after its public introduction in 1992, Falun Gong quickly grew in popularity to have more than 100 million practitioners in mainland China alone. The Marxist ideology of the Communist Party of China being against anything spiritual, in 1999, a persecution was launched against Falun Gong practitioners, one similar in nature to what had been happening against Tibetan Buddhists. Futher, the CCP has used the internet and state controlled media to spread mis-information about Falun Gong in an attempt to justify the brutal persecution. Governments and Human Rights agencies world-over, including the UN and The Amnesty International have been strongly criticizing the actions of the Chinese government.

One, my post was a balanced post carefully thought out without an agenda other than to provide choice, resources, information, and safety to potential readers. Therefore I’ll stick by it. It is possible we share this point.

I have not, nor will I, author any disparaging remarks against Falun Gong. That was not my aim so defending it is unnecessary. I do not have enough information to support or critique.

Two, the term “marketing”, while certainly having a connotation in the minds and societies of some as involving cost, does not inherently mean “cost”. Marketing is presenting a good or service, which Yoga, Massage, Qi Gong all are, to a market or segment of potential consumers. Some consume with fees and others consume without. As they are consuming and they are a market, the function of reaching them is, in fact marketing. Any negative connotation is owned, therefore, by the reader, not the author.

If you read my post and take it at face value you would notice, as I suspect others have already, that there is no debate about the opression of Falun Gong, China, government, politics, etcetera.

I merely advocate students to have discrimination in their choices - mindfulness. And this advocating is applied with equanimity across all the healing arts. What healing art, what body worker, what “Master” would not also advocate this sort of “right action”? None. Including, I presume, Falun Gong. So yet again we agree.

I do however think the term “cultivation” is incredibly vague. So much so that I visited several web sites before my initial reply to find out exactly WHAT was being cultivated. With that broad of a term and a sentence like “cultivation is good” or “cultivation heals” who would dare disagree. Of course it is.
